Use Zapier or Make
Zapier and Make connections are webhooks with their own cards. They send the same events and payloads, need no signature check, and turn off when the hook is deleted.
On this page
A Zapier or Make connection is a webhook with its own card and setup hints. Ovante sends it the same events, in the same payloads, as a custom webhook. What differs is how you set up the receiving side and what you can skip.
How it differs from a custom webhook
| Zapier or Make | Custom webhook | |
|---|---|---|
| The URL | From the Zap's Catch Hook trigger, or the scenario's Custom webhook module | Your own endpoint |
| Fields to map | Send test delivers one sample per event, so the field picker fills | You read the JSON yourself |
| Signature check | Not needed | Verify X-Ovante-Signature |
| A deleted hook | Zapier and Make answer 410 Gone, and Ovante turns the connection off at once | Your endpoint decides what to answer |
Set up a Zap that maps fields
- 1In Zapier, create a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier and the Catch Hook trigger, and copy its URL. In Make, add a Custom webhook module and copy its URL.
- 2In Ovante, open Settings → Integrations, click Connect on the Zapier or Make card, paste the URL, tick your events, and click Create connection.
- 3Click Done on the signing secret; Zapier and Make don't use it.
- 4Click Send test. Ovante sends one realistic sample per event you ticked.
- 5Back in Zapier or Make, pick the sample and map its fields to the next step. Every field you see is one a real event sends.
Keep test data out
Each sample's data carries "sample": true. Add a filter step that stops when sample is true, and test runs never reach your mailing list or spreadsheet.
One connection per job
You can add as many Zapier or Make connections as you like with Add another, each with its own events and privacy choices. A mailing list connection might send only Attendee registered, with Only send contacts who opted into marketing ticked. A bookkeeping one might send Order completed, Order refunded and Donation received.
When something stops
- Each connection's Recent activity shows every delivery with the status code Zapier or Make returned.
- If the hook is deleted, Ovante turns the connection off and emails the owner. Point it at a working URL with Edit connection, then click Resume.
- See Send events to a webhook for retries and what Ovante holds while a connection is off.
