The appeal console
Run the appeal from a phone or tablet: start, pause and close it, call each level, switch what the screen shows, look after each gift, and approve pledges from tickets.
On this page
The appeal console is the remote control for the appeal, built for whoever stands with the speaker. Everything you do there shows on the live screen within a moment.
Open it
In the event, open Fundraising → Appeal and click Open console. It's laid out for a phone, and shows two columns on a tablet. The screen stays awake while it's open.
Start, pause and close
- Start appeal puts it live. Paddle entry and pledges from tickets open.
- Pause holds it; Resume goes live again.
- Close appeal ends it, after you confirm. If a late gift comes in, Reopen appeal goes live again with every gift so far.
The status shows as Not started, Live, Paused or Closed.
Call the levels
The Level card shows the level on the screen and its gifts so far.
- Start at the top puts your highest level on the screen. Then Next and Previous step through them.
- Or tap any level in the list to jump to it.
Choose what the screen shows
In the Screen card, pick Appeal, Sponsors, Journal or Hold. For Hold, type a Message on the screen and click Save. The card shows whether live updates are connected.
Look after each gift
Recent gifts lists every gift as it lands, with its paddle, who entered it, and where it came from. Each gift's menu has:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Thank on the screen | Puts this gift across the whole screen. Take off the screen or Clear ends it. |
| Hide name / Show name | Shows the gift as Anonymous on the screen, or brings the name back |
| Edit amount | Fixes a wrong amount |
| Undo | Takes the gift off every total. Restore puts it back. |
Waiting for you
When Pledges from tickets is on Review first, guests' pledges wait here and count only once you decide. Approve puts one on the screen, Decline drops it, and Approve without the name shows it as Anonymous.
The Pledges from tickets card switches between Off, Review first and Straight on on the night. Use it as the off switch if pledges from tickets need to stop.
Good to know
- Only people who can edit the event can open the console. Paddle entry is open to check-in staff too.
- Your changes show at once on your phone; if one is refused, it's undone and a toast says why.
- Once Gala closes, the console is read only.
- When
- Pledges from tickets is set to Review first
- Then
- A guest's pledge waits in the console's Waiting for you list and reaches neither the screen nor any total until someone approves it.
