Create a promo code
A promo code takes a percentage or a fixed amount off, once per order or on each ticket. Set a maximum number of uses if you want one.

A promo code gives a discount to whoever types it at checkout. Codes belong to one event, and every plan can use them.
Create a code
- 1In the event, open Sales → Promo codes.
- 2Click Add promo.
- 3Type the Code, such as SPRING. Ovante makes it uppercase; guests can type it in any case.
- 4Under Discount Type, pick Percentage or Fixed amount, then set the Discount Value.
- 5Under Discount Applies To, pick Entire Order (once) or Each ticket.
- 6Optional: set Max Uses (Optional). Leave it empty for unlimited uses.
- 7Leave Active (users can apply this code) checked.
- 8Click Create Promo Code.
The code shows in the list with its discount, uses and status.
Once per order or on each ticket
| Entire Order (once) | Each ticket | |
|---|---|---|
| Tickets | Off the order's tickets, once | Off every ticket |
| Bundles | Included in the total | Off every bundle |
| Journal ads on a Gala event | Included in the total | Not discounted |
| Donations and the card fee cover | Never discounted | Never discounted |
A percentage can't take more than the whole price.
Statuses
- Active: guests can use it.
- Limit reached: it was used as many times as Max Uses (Optional) allows. Raise the limit to use it again.
- Disabled: you unchecked Active (users can apply this code).
Good to know
- A ticket that gets a member price takes no promo. A member's other tickets on the same order still can.
- At checkout, guests click Enter promo code, type it and click Apply. A gift on its own has no promo field.
- There are no start or end dates on a code, and a code works on every ticket type. Uncheck Active (users can apply this code) to stop it.
- When
- A ticket gets a member benefit for this buyer
- Then
- No promo code applies to that ticket. An order-wide code still takes money off the rest of the order.
