Ask checkout questions
Add questions to checkout on the Questions page, asked once per order or for each ticket. Make them required, save answers to contacts, or show one only after a certain answer.
On this page
Checkout always asks for a name and email. Questions let you ask anything else: a meal choice, a company name, how they heard about you.
Before you start
Adding a question needs Pro. On Free, the options in Add field are locked with a Pro badge. Questions you added before keep working, and you can still edit, reorder and remove them.
Add a question
- 1In the event, open Sales → Questions.
- 2Pick the section. In Asked once per checkout, the buyer answers once. In Asked for each ticket, each ticket holder answers on their own ticket.
- 3Click Add field in that section, then Custom question.
- 4Pick the Type: Text, Choice, Checkbox, Number, Date or Poll.
- 5Type the Question. For a choice, add each answer under Options.
- 6Turn on Required if checkout shouldn't continue without an answer.
- 7For a question asked for each ticket, pick Which tickets ask it.
- 8Click Add question. "Question added" confirms it.
Save answers to the contact
Add field also lists Contact fields, such as Company, Date of Birth or Address. An answer to one of those updates the person's contact record: the buyer's for a question asked once, each holder's for a question asked per ticket. The sheet says whether a newer answer replaces the saved one or only fills a blank. Other questions stay with the order. See Contact fields from checkout questions.
Show a question only for some answers
- 1Open the question and, under Show this question, pick Only when.
- 2Under Choose a question, pick the question it depends on.
- 3Under Answer is any of, pick the answers that show it.
- 4Click Save changes.
The question it depends on must be a choice or checkbox question in the same section, and can't depend on another question itself: one level only. Checkout hides a question until its answer is picked, and never requires a hidden question.
Good to know
- Requiring per-ticket questions makes a buyer of 3 tickets fill in 3 forms. Leave them optional unless you need every answer.
- When you add attendees by hand, the questions show, but none are required.
- Removing a question stops checkout asking it. Answers already collected stay on their orders.
