Pause ticket sales
Pausing closes checkout for every ticket at once, paid and free, until you resume. Orders already placed aren't affected, and Paused is not the same as Sold out.
Pausing stops every sale on the event straight away, whatever each ticket's sales window says. Use it when you need to stop and think: a venue change, a seating problem, a price you got wrong.
Pause sales
- 1In the event, open Settings.
- 2Under Ticket sales, turn on Pause ticket sales.
- 3Click Pause sales in the confirm.
"Ticket sales paused" appears, and the event page's button says Sales paused.
You can also pick Paused under Sales in Edit event → Status. That saves with the rest of the form, when you click Save.
What a pause stops
- Paid orders, free registrations and requests for approval, on every ticket and bundle.
- Journal ads on a Gala event.
- Every way in: the event page, the checkout link and an embed.
A gift from a guest who can't attend still goes through on a Gala event that offers it, since it holds no ticket. Orders placed before the pause stay as they are.
Resume sales
While sales are paused, every page of the event in the app shows "Ticket sales are paused." with Resume sales.
- 1Click Resume sales, or turn off Pause ticket sales on the Settings page.
- 2Click Resume sales in the confirm.
Checkout opens again for every ticket that's within its sales window and not sold out.
Paused is not Sold out
Sales in Edit event has a third choice, Sold out. It also closes checkout, and the button says Sold out whatever is left. Use Paused for a stop you mean to lift, and Sold out when you want buyers told the event is full. Unlike a pause, Sold out still lets journal ads sell on a Gala event.
- When
- You pause ticket sales
- Then
- Checkout closes for every ticket whatever its dates, requests and journal ads included, and the button says Sales paused. Each tab of the event shows "Ticket sales are paused." with Resume sales until you resume.
- When
- Every ticket and bundle on the page is sold out, or you set Sales to Sold out
- Then
- The button says Sold out and checkout sells no tickets, whatever is left.
- When
- Ticket sales close on an event whose Gala is open
- Then
- Journal ads keep selling after every ticket's sales end, a sell-out or a full house. Only pausing sales stops them.
- When
- Show the donation screen to guests who can't attend is on
- Then
- Checkout first asks whether the guest is attending, and one who can't gives through the donation screen with no ticket. A gift alone takes no seat, so capacity, sold out, sales dates and a pause don't stop it.
