Member and host emails

Change the words of the emails your members and hosts get, preview them on a sample person, and send yourself a test.

Your membership emails and your host emails share one editor. For each email you can change the subject, the headline and the message; the tier or event details, the button and the footer stay as Ovante writes them.

Before you start

Saving changes needs Pro. On Free you can open the editor and try changes in the preview, but Save stays off. An event with Gala doesn't change this: these emails belong to the organization, not to one event.

Edit an email

  1. 1
Open Memberships in the sidebar and click Tiers and perks.
  2. 2
Scroll to Member emails or Host emails and click the email. Each row says when it's sent.
  3. 3
In the Emails drawer, change the Subject, the Headline or the Message. Use Personalize or the braces buttons to insert a field.
  4. 4
Watch the preview beside the form. It shows a sample member on your tiers, or a sample host on your next event, addressed to you.
  5. 5
Click Send test to get it at your sign-in email, with your unsaved changes.
  6. 6
Click Save. The row wears a Customized pill.

The menu at the top of the drawer switches to another email. Reset to default brings back Ovante's wording.

Good to know

  • A subject you write goes out exactly as written, with nothing added in front.
  • An upgrade or a downgrade is decided by what the two tiers cost over a year. A move to a tier that costs the same sends the upgrade email.
  • Invitations to join a tier and member event invites aren't in the editor. You write their message each time you send one.
  • Honorees and committee members on a Gala event get their own wording, which your host email edits don't change.
