Merge contacts, or undo a merge
Fold two contacts that are one person into one record, choosing which values win. Undo is on the toast that confirms the merge.

When two contacts are the same person, merging folds one into the other. Their events, orders and history combine on one record, and you decide which value wins wherever the two disagree. Merges start from a suggestion on Review.
Merge two contacts
- 1Open Contacts in the sidebar and click the Review tab.
- 2Under Possible duplicates, find the pair and click Review and merge.
- 3Under Keep as the main record, pick the contact to keep. The older one is picked to start with; the other folds into it.
- 4Under the line that says how many fields they disagree on, click the value you want for each field.
- 5Check After the merge: the name, email and phone the record will have, and how many events the two hold together.
- 6Click Merge contacts. A toast says the contacts are merged.
A field that's empty on the main record takes the other record's value without asking.
Undo a merge
Click Undo on the toast that confirms the merge. Both contacts come back exactly as they were, each with their own history.
The toast closes after a few seconds, and the app has no other place to undo a merge. If you missed it, write to support@ovante.app with both people's names.
Good to know
- A merge stays in Ovante. Salesforce, ChabadOne and webhooks aren't told.
- Two people on one phone number are often a family. Review suggests them only when their first names agree; if a suggestion is still two different people, click Not the same person instead, and the pair won't come back.
- Two contacts can't share an email, so a duplicate is always two different addresses, or one without an address.
