Record an ad paid by check
Add a journal ad sold by check, cash or a transfer, or given free, with Add ad on the Journal page. Record it as Paid, Not paid yet or Complimentary.

Plenty of journal ads are sold by phone and paid by check. Add ad records one on the Journal page: the ad, its order, and its gift once it's paid. The buyer then sends their content from their order page, or you type it in for them.
Before you start
Add the ad size first. Add ad offers only sizes that are active and not sold out. See Set up journal ad types.
Add the ad
- 1In the event, open Fundraising → Journal.
- 2Under Ads, click Add ad.
- 3Under Ad, pick the Size.
- 4Under Buyer, type their Name and Email.
- 5Under Listing, set Listed as, the name printed with the ad, and pick In honor of if it's for an honoree.
- 6Under Payment, pick Paid, Not paid yet or Complimentary (below).
- 7Click Add ad. It joins the Ads table as Awaiting content.
The three ways to record it

The Payment column on the Ads table then reads Paid, Complimentary, or an amber chip with what's due.
Get the content in
- The buyer's order page asks for it. Remind all emails every buyer whose ad is still waiting on them.
- Or open the ad and type the Message, or click Upload for them to add artwork yourself.
Good to know
- To collect a Not paid yet ad, open it and click Mark as paid. See Collect a promised payment.
- An offline payment carries no processor fee and no Ovante fee.
- Each ad you add has its own order. It doesn't join an order the buyer already has.
- There's no button yet to cancel an ad you added. A paid ad is cancelled by refunding its order.

- You add a sponsor or a journal ad as Not paid yet

- The order owes the price and Ovante records no gift until you click Mark as paid, so nothing reaches your CRM or the contact's giving before then.
- When
- You record a payment you collected yourself
- Then
- It carries no processor fee and no Ovante fee, on any plan.
