Revenue on Home doesn't match Stripe
Revenue is ticket money after fees and refunds, with gifts counted under Donations instead. Stripe shows each charge in full.
Revenue on Home is what your tickets brought in after the processor's fee, Ovante's fee and refunds, with every gift taken out. Stripe lists each charge as the buyer paid it. The two differ in four places:
- Gifts: donations, the part of a sponsorship above its seats, money paid above a ticket's value and card fees a buyer covered show under Donations, not Revenue.
- Fees: Revenue subtracts the processor's fee and, on Free, Ovante's 5%. When Ovante has no recorded fee for a charge, it estimates one at Stripe's standard rate.
- Money you recorded yourself, like cash and checks, counts in Revenue and never reaches Stripe.
- Home covers the period you picked, in your org's time zone.
Fix it
- 1On Home, pick the period that matches the Stripe report you're comparing.
- 2Add Donations to Revenue when you compare against Stripe's charges.
- 3For one order's exact charge, open it in Transactions. Its total is what the card was charged, gifts included.
- When
- A buyer pays more than a ticket's fair market value
- Then
- Ovante books the difference as a gift: revenue counts the ticket's value and Donations count the rest. The buyer still sees the full price on their order.
- When
- A sponsorship level sells
- Then
- Each seat it includes is a ticket at the admission's value, and the rest of the price is a sponsorship gift. That's why most sponsorship money shows under Donations, not Revenue.
- When
- You record a payment you collected yourself
- Then
- It carries no processor fee and no Ovante fee, on any plan.
Not this?
- Sponsorship money looks small: see Sponsorship money shows under Donations.
