A contact's name changed by itself
A member edited their own profile. A member's own name, email, phone and photo reach their contact, even over a field you edited.
Owner · Admin · Manager
When a member changes their own name, email, phone or photo from Edit profile on their membership page, Ovante copies it to their contact. The member is the authority on their own details, so this writes over a field you edited by hand. It never empties a name, email or phone, and it leaves an email alone when another contact already has it. Checkout and registrations don't write over your hand edits.
Fix it
- 1Open the contact's page. A Membership block means they're a member.
- 2If the new name is wrong, ask the member to fix it from Edit profile on their membership page.
- 3Or click Edit, change it and save. Your edit stands until the member edits their profile again.
- When
- A member edits their own name, email, phone or photo
- Then
- Their contact takes the change, even over a field you edited by hand. An email another contact already holds stays where it is.
- When
- You edit a contact's field by hand
- Then
- The field locks: later registrations and imports never write over it, and a field you clear stays clear. A member's own edits to their profile are the one exception.
Not this?
- Your edits keep reverting on someone who isn't a member: see My edit keeps getting overwritten.
- A host's photo changed: see A host's photo changed.
