Add a sponsor
Record a sponsorship you sold yourself, at any level, as Paid, Not paid yet or Complimentary. Ovante writes the seats, the gift and the sponsor in one step.

Most gala sponsorships are agreed in a conversation and paid by check. Add sponsor records one in a single step: the seats the level includes, the gift, and the sponsor's row on your list, split the same way a card payment would be.
Before you start
- The level must exist, with Show on the event page on. Hidden levels aren't offered. See Set up sponsorship levels.
- A level that's full can't take another sponsor.
Add a sponsor
- 1In the event, open Fundraising → Sponsors.
- 2Click Add sponsor.
- 3Under Sponsorship, pick the Level. The line under it says how many people it admits, or that it has no seats.
- 4Under Sponsor, type the buyer's Name and Email, and a Phone if you have one.
- 5Under Listing, set the Name on the list the page should show, or leave it for the buyer's name. Turn on Anonymous to list them as Anonymous with no logo or link.
- 6Under Payment, pick how the money stands (see below) and fill in its fields.
- 7Click Add sponsor. The sponsor's drawer opens so you can add their logo or contact.
Paid, Not paid yet or Complimentary
| Pick | Fill in | What Ovante records |
|---|---|---|
| Paid | Paid by (Check, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, Bank transfer, Cash or Other), Date received, Amount, and a Check number or Reference | An offline payment, the seats as paid tickets, and the gift. It reaches your CRM and the contact's giving. |
| Not paid yet | Price: what they agreed to | The seats, held for them, and the price as still to collect. No gift until you mark it paid. |
| Complimentary | Nothing | The seats, free, and the sponsor row. No payment and no gift. |
Amount and Price start at the level's price; change them if the sponsor agreed to something else.
How the money splits
- Each seat is a ticket at its ticket type's fair market value. The rest of the amount is a tax-deductible sponsorship gift under the sponsor's name.
- A level with no seats records its whole amount as the gift.
- When the amount is at or below the seats' value, it's spread over the seats and there's no gift.
What happens next
- The sponsor joins the list, and their name shows on your page under their level, unless you hid them.
- The first seat is the sponsor's. The others are unnamed until the sponsor names them from their order page or you name them.
- If the level includes a logo, the sponsor's order page asks for one.
- With Not paid yet, an amber to collect card waits at the top of their drawer. See Collect a promised payment.
Good to know
- If you held a place for this sponsor with Reserved, lower the level's Reserved count by one after you add them.
- Recording a sponsor sends them no email. Remind all emails each sponsor who still owes a logo a link to their order page.
- When
- You add a sponsor or a journal ad as Not paid yet
- Then
- The order owes the price and Ovante records no gift until you click Mark as paid, so nothing reaches your CRM or the contact's giving before then.
- When
- A sponsorship level sells
- Then
- Each seat it includes is a ticket at the admission's value, and the rest of the price is a sponsorship gift. That's why most sponsorship money shows under Donations, not Revenue.
- When
- You record a payment you collected yourself
- Then
- It carries no processor fee and no Ovante fee, on any plan.
