Split a registration off a contact
When a registration joined a contact by email but belongs to someone else, Split off on Review moves it to a new contact of its own.
A registration always joins the contact with the same email. Families and couples sometimes share one address, so when a registration's phone or last name disagrees with the contact it joined, Review asks you. Split off gives that registration a contact of its own.
Before you start
This suggestion only appears when your contact matching settings ask for more than the email, such as Email and phone. With Email alone, a shared address is always one person. See Contact matching settings.
Split a registration off
- 1Open Contacts in the sidebar and click the Review tab.
- 2Under Same email, different details, find the card. The contact is on the left; the registration that joined it is on the right, with the event it was for.
- 3Click Split off.
- 4A toast says the contact was added to your list without an email.
The registration, its ticket and its event move to the new contact. The email stays with the original contact, so the new one starts without an address and shows up under Missing an email on Review. Add their address there when you have it.
If the registration does belong to that contact, click Same person instead.
Good to know
- Split off has no undo. Same person does: click Undo on its toast to bring the suggestion back.
- Splitting changes contacts only. The ticket keeps its name and email. To change who a ticket belongs to, change the ticket itself. See Change a ticket's name or email.
- You can only split from Review. A person's page has no split.
