Send a test

Send your draft blast to your own inbox first, filled in as one of your attendees or a sample name, with [Test] in the subject.

On this page

A test sends your blast exactly as a recipient would get it, to addresses you choose, before anyone on the event sees it. It's the surest way to check the fields, the links and how it looks in a real inbox.

Send a test

  1. 1
In the event, open Outreach → Emails and open your draft.
  2. 2
On the Message or Review step, click Send test.
  3. 3
In Send to, type up to 3 addresses, separated by commas. Yours is filled in.
  4. 4
In Personalize as, keep Alex Sample or pick one of the people the blast reaches. Their name and ticket fill the fields.
  5. 5
Click Send test. A toast lists where it went.

The test arrives with "[Test]" at the start of the subject.

What a test changes

Ovante saves your draft first, then sends the saved version. Nothing else changes: the blast stays a draft, nobody on the event gets anything, and the test isn't counted in the blast's recipients.

Good to know

  • A test has no unsubscribe link, and its ticket button opens the event page, since a test has no ticket of its own.
  • Your organization can send a limited number of tests an hour. If you hit it, the dialog says so; try again later.
  • Event emails, member emails and host emails have their own Send test in their editors, which sends to your sign-in email.

The rules behind this page

When
You send a test of an email
Then
It goes to up to 3 addresses with [Test] in the subject, written as one attendee or a sample name would get it. Nothing on the email changes and nobody on the list gets it.
When
You send an email to an event's guests
Then
Each copy's main button is View your ticket, or View your tickets for someone holding several, and opens that person's own ticket page. A test's button opens the event page instead.
