Start a membership program
Create your tiers, then turn on Take new members. Your org page becomes the place people join, and each event can give members their own price.

A membership program lets people join your org at a tier you define, pay their dues by card, and get member prices and members-only events. Each org runs one program, on every plan. On Free, Ovante keeps 5% of card dues; on Pro it keeps nothing.
Before you start
- Paid tiers charge cards through your own Stripe account. Connect Stripe first. Without it, people can still join free tiers, and you can add members yourself.
- Running the program takes the owner or an Admin.
Start the program
- 1In the sidebar, click Memberships, then the Tiers and perks tab.
- 2Under Tiers, click Create your first tier.
- 3Give the tier a Name, pick its Billing and Price, tick its perks, and click Create tier. Add more tiers with New tier.
- 4Under On your org page, turn on Take new members.
- 5Click View tiers at the top of the page. Your org page opens with its tiers drawer up, the way a visitor sees it.
What happens next
- Your org page shows Become a member and Sign in under your name. Become a member opens the tiers drawer, and a card beside your events invites people to join. See The membership card on your org page.
- People sign in with a code and pay on a page of its own. See How members sign in.
- Everyone who joins shows on the Members tab and becomes a contact, with a Membership column on the People list.
- Each event decides its own member rules. See Members-only events and member pricing.
- When
- A member pays dues by card
- Then
- On Free, Ovante takes 5%; on Pro, nothing. Each renewal follows the plan your org is on when Stripe drafts it, and dues you record yourself carry no fee.
Good to know
- You can't turn on Take new members until the program has a tier.
- Turning Take new members off stops online joining. Current members keep their membership, and you can still add people from Add member on the Members tab.
- The same card holds three more switches: Approve new members (Require approval to join), Email me about new members, and Show hosts what they raise.
- The Members tab counts Active members, New in 30 days, Recurring revenue and Dues, last 12 months.
