How members sign in
Members sign in with a 6-digit code sent by text or email. Their member account belongs to your org; it isn't an Ovante account and has no password.
On this page
Members sign in with a 6-digit code. They type their phone number or email, Ovante sends the code by text or email, and entering it signs them in to your org's pages. There's no password, and no Ovante account: a member account belongs to your org alone.
Where members sign in
- Sign in under your name on your org page.
- Sign in to register on a members-only event.
- "Members, sign in for your price" on an event with member pricing.
- The join page, which asks for the account first.
Phone or email
The form opens on Phone number when Ovante can send texts, with Use email instead under it. Without texting, it asks for Email only. The text comes from Ovante and names your org, and the line under the phone field says rates may apply and how to reply STOP or HELP.
Someone new adds their name, and can add the other contact (an email for a phone sign-in) for receipts and invites. Ovante then sends the code. A member who misses it can tap Send a new code after a short countdown.
A member account, not an Ovante account
| Member account | Ovante account | |
|---|---|---|
| Who has one | Your members and anyone who signs in on your pages | You and your team |
| Signs in with | A code by text or email | Email and password, or Google |
| Belongs to | Your org only | The person, across orgs |
| Sees | Their membership, tickets, cards and history with you | The app |
A person in two orgs has two member accounts. Signing in on your custom domain works the same way.
What a signed-in member gets
- Member prices at checkout, and members-only events.
- At checkout, a card with their photo, name, tier and email in place of the fields their account already fills.
- Their dashboard: membership, Your tickets, saved cards and history.
- Edit profile for their name and photo. Their contact follows their edits.
- When
- A member edits their own name, email, phone or photo
- Then
- Their contact takes the change, even over a field you edited by hand. An email another contact already holds stays where it is.
- When
- A member checks out
- Then
- Their tier's benefit applies only once they're signed in to their member account. Typing a member's email unlocks nothing.
- When
- Who can register is Members
- Then
- Only someone signed in with a live membership in an allowed tier can register. Typing a member's email doesn't unlock it.
Good to know
- A sign-in lasts a set time on that device. Sign out in the member's account menu ends it at once.
- You can't sign in as a member or send them a code from the app. When a code doesn't arrive, see A member didn't get a sign-in code.
