Set capacity
Capacity is the most people the whole event can hold. Each ticket type can also have its own quantity, and checkout stops at whichever runs out first.
On this page
Capacity caps the whole event: once that many people hold tickets, checkout stops selling. A ticket type's own quantity caps that one ticket. You can use either, or both.
Set the event's capacity
- 1In the event, open Settings.
- 2Under Capacity, turn on Limit attendees. The line under it shows how many have registered.
- 3Type the number in Maximum attendees.
- 4Click Save changes at the bottom of the page. The line now reads like "40 of 150 registered."
On an Interactive page, Edit event asks for Seats instead, and that number is the capacity.
Capacity and ticket quantities
| Limit | Set in | Stops |
|---|---|---|
| Event capacity | Settings → Maximum attendees | Every ticket and bundle, once the event is full |
| Ticket quantity | The ticket's Tickets for sale | That ticket type only |
Say the Spring Community Dinner holds 150 people and sells 100 Adult and 80 Child tickets. Checkout stops at 150 people in all, even if some of each type are left.
What counts
- Each ticket counts once, whoever holds it.
- A bundle or a table counts every seat in it: a table of 10 takes 10 places.
- A request for approval holds no place until you approve it, and a ticket set to Not going frees its place.
Show the counts on the page
Turn on Show reserved and remaining to show, under the tickets on a Showcase page, how many are reserved and how many are left when there's a limit. An Interactive page always shows seats reserved and remaining. A Standard page says how many spots are left once only a few remain.
On Free
Free events hold up to 50 attendees. If you type a capacity above that, the field says how many this event registers and offers Upgrade to Pro. An event with Gala has no Free cap.
- When
- The event reaches its Maximum attendees
- Then
- Checkout refuses more tickets and the button says Sold out. A bundle counts every seat it holds, and a request holds no seat until you approve it.
- When
- An event on Free reaches 50 attendees
- Then
- Checkout stops selling and the button says Sold out; buyers read that the event is at capacity. Events on Pro and events with Gala have no such cap.
- When
- An order is a request
- Then
- It holds no seat, and no count or total includes it until you approve it.
- When
- You add attendees by hand
- Then
- They're added even while sales are paused, closed or sold out. The event's capacity and Free's attendee cap still hold, and a ticket type's quantity can be passed after Ovante asks you first.
