Customize event emails
Change the subject, headline and message of the emails an event sends its guests. Tickets, amounts, the event details and the footer stay fixed.
On this page
Each event can have its own wording for the emails it sends guests: the order confirmation, the refund notice, the approval emails and the rest. You change three things in each email; everything that carries facts stays as Ovante writes it.
Before you start
Saving changes needs Pro, or an event with Gala. On Free you can open the drawer and try changes in the preview, but Save stays off.
Customize an email
- 1In the event, open Settings → General.
- 2In the Emails section, click Customize emails.
- 3Pick the email from the menu at the top. The line under it says when it's sent.
- 4Change the Subject, the Headline (the line above the event name) or the Message. To insert the guest's name or another detail, use Personalize in the message's toolbar, or the braces button beside the subject and headline.
- 5Watch the preview on the right. It shows sample tickets addressed to you.
- 6Click Send test to get it in your inbox, with your unsaved changes.
- 7Click Save. The email wears a Customized pill, and the next one this event sends uses your words.
To go back to Ovante's wording, click Reset to default.
What you can't change
Tickets, QR codes, amounts, the date and location, the button and the footer always stay as they are. Your message replaces the greeting line, not the details under it. On Request declined, the note you type when you decline is added under your message. On Donor thank-you, the gift, the tax receipt and how to pay stay fixed.
Which emails are listed
- Every event lists the confirmations, Refund, Location reveal, Marked going and Marked not going.
- Request received, Request approved, Request declined, Request expired and Payment needed appear under Require approval once a ticket type needs approval.
- Donor thank-you appears under Donations on an event with Gala.
See Every email Ovante sends for when each one goes out.
Good to know
- Changes are per event. Duplicating an event copies them.
- Edits you haven't saved ask before you switch emails or close the drawer.
- Guest ticket greets the guest with the buyer's name ("Dana Cohen has purchased a ticket..."). If you write your own message, it replaces that line.
