Fees
On Free, Ovante keeps a share of each card payment. Pro and any event with Gala pay Ovante nothing. Stripe charges its own processing fee, and offline payments carry no fees.
Two fees can come out of a card payment: Ovante's, on Free only, and your processor's. Free tickets and money you record yourself carry neither.
Ovante's fee
| Your org or event | Ovante keeps |
|---|---|
| Free | 5% of each card payment |
| Pro ($49 a month) | Nothing |
| Any event with Gala, whatever your plan | Nothing |
- The fee is a share of everything a card order charges: the tickets after any promo code, plus any donation, journal ad or covered card fee paid with them.
- It comes out of the payment before Stripe pays you. The buyer pays the price you set, not more.
- On Free, card dues for memberships carry the same 5%.
- Ovante doesn't return its fee when you refund an order.
The processor's fee
- Stripe sets its own fee and takes it from each charge. Ovante shows what Stripe reports; when Stripe hasn't reported one, Ovante estimates it.
- PayArc bills its fee to you separately, so Ovante estimates it from the Processing rate you enter in Settings → Payments. PayArc needs Pro, so Ovante takes no fee there.
Payments with no fees
- Free tickets. Nothing is charged.
- Offline payments. Cash, checks, Zelle and other money you record yourself carry no processor fee and no Ovante fee.
Where you see them
- A transaction's page lists Processing fees and Platform fee under the total, then Net.
- The order drawer's Payment card lists Fees and what You receive.
- Revenue on Home and an event's Overview is after fees. See Where money shows up.
Good to know
- Buyers can choose to cover the card fee at checkout when you offer it. Their extra is recorded as a gift. See Let buyers cover the card fee.
- A request's card is held, not charged, so a declined or withdrawn request costs no fee.
- When
- Someone pays by card on Free
- Then
- Ovante takes 5% of the payment, tickets, gifts and ads alike, and of card membership dues. On Pro, and on any event with Gala, it takes nothing.
- When
- You refund a card payment that carried Ovante's fee
- Then
- The buyer gets the whole amount back from your balance. Ovante keeps its fee.
- When
- You record a payment you collected yourself
- Then
- It carries no processor fee and no Ovante fee, on any plan.
- When
- A buyer chooses to cover the card fee
- Then
- Ovante adds the percent you set to their card payment and records that amount as a gift of its own.
