Seat your guests
In the full-screen seating editor, drag a party or a guest onto a table, or click them and then the table. Every move saves at once, and Undo takes it back.
The seating editor is a full-screen page laid out like a design tool: guests on the left, tables in the middle, details on the right. Move people by dragging or by clicking, and every move saves as you make it.
Open it
In the event, open Guests → Seating and click Open seating editor. Add tables first if you have none. See Set up tables.
Find the guests to seat
The Guests panel on the left lists everyone with a ticket, grouped by party: the people who bought together. Use the tabs to narrow it:
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| Unseated | Guests without a table. Where you start. |
| All | Everyone |
| Requests | Parties who answered your seating question |
| Sponsors | Sponsors and table buyers |
Search guests finds anyone by name. A speech-bubble icon marks a party with a seating request.
Seat someone
- 1Drag a party, or one guest from it, onto a table card.
- 2Or click the party or guest, then click the table. The right-hand panel says Click a table to seat them there, or drag them.
- 3Or select them and pick a table under Move to in the right-hand panel.
The table's fill bar updates and the top bar shows the save. A table can take more guests than its seats; its card turns red and says Over by how many.
Move or unseat
- Drag a seated guest onto another table to move them.
- Drag them back onto the guest list, or select them and click Unseat, to take them off their table.
- Select a party to move or unseat all of it together.
Undo
Click Undo in the top bar, or press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows). Every move can be undone, including auto-seat and removing a table. Hover Undo to see what it will take back.
Good to know
- Press Escape to let go of a selection.
- On a phone, the editor is a list of tables, and parties and tables open in sheets.
- Guests don't see their tables until you publish. See Publish seating.
- Once Gala closes, the editor is read only.
