What each number means

How Ovante counts revenue, donations, tickets sold, page views, visits, conversion and the people figures, the same way on every screen.

On this page

These are the definitions behind every figure on Home, an event's Overview and Analytics. Each screen counts a number the same way, so a difference between two screens comes from the period or the events in view, not from the math.

Money

NumberHow Ovante counts it
RevenueTicket sales, less processing fees, Ovante's platform fee and ticket refunds. Gifts aren't in it.
DonationsEvery gift that wasn't refunded: checkout donations, the part of a ticket above its fair market value, covered card fees, sponsorship gifts, journal ads and paid pledges.
Processing feesWhat Stripe or PayArc charged. Where a charge has no recorded fee, Ovante estimates Stripe's standard rate. Offline payments carry none.
Platform feeWhat Ovante kept on Free: 5% of each card payment. Nothing on Pro or on an event with Gala.
RefundsMoney returned on tickets. A refunded gift leaves Donations instead.
Average paid orderTicket sales before fees and refunds, per paid order.
Average giftDonations per gift.
Average ticketRevenue per ticket sold, before gifts.

Home's Next up shows one event's Revenue with its gifts added back in, and says how much was gifts.

Tickets and guests

NumberHow Ovante counts it
Tickets soldTickets that hold a seat: paid or free, and not set to Not going. A request isn't counted until you approve it.
Checked inTickets scanned or checked in at the door.
Capacity filledTickets sold against the event's capacity.
SpotsThe event's capacity, or No limit.

Traffic

NumberHow Ovante counts it
Page viewsEach load of an event page. Your team, a host on their own link, bots and draft pages don't count.
VisitsPage views that start a visit: the device hadn't viewed that event in the last 30 minutes, or arrived through another host's link.
ConversionCheckout orders divided by visits. Orders you add by hand don't count, since those guests never saw the page. Ovante shows no rate when there are no visits, or more orders than visits.

People

NumberHow Ovante counts it
On your listEvery contact in your organization, after merges.
New peopleContacts Ovante first saw in the period.
Came backPeople who came to an event in the period and to one before it.
First timePeople whose first event fell in the period.
RegularsPeople who keep coming to your events. The card's footnote names how many events make a regular.
Haven't been backRegulars with nothing booked who haven't come to an event in months.
MembersPeople with a live membership.

Good to know

  • A ticket's attendance counts toward its holder, and its money toward the buyer. See Orders, tickets and attendees.
  • Sponsorship money shows under Donations: each seat counts at the admission's value, and the rest of the price is a gift.
When
Ovante shows a conversion rate
Then
It's checkout orders divided by visits. Orders you added by hand don't count, and when orders outnumber visits no rate shows.
When
Someone opens an event page
Then
It's a page view. It's also a visit when that device hasn't viewed the event in 30 minutes, or arrives through a different host's link.
When
A buyer pays more than a ticket's fair market value
Then
Ovante books the difference as a gift: revenue counts the ticket's value and Donations count the rest. The buyer still sees the full price on their order.
When
A gift is refunded
Then
It leaves Transactions, Recent transactions and every money total, and the donor's contact stops counting it.
