Roles and permissions
Each teammate has one role: Admin, Manager, Door staff or Viewer. This is what each can see and do, matching Compare roles in Settings.
Every person on your team has one role, and the role decides what they can see and change. The table below is the one in Settings → Team → Compare roles. Ovante enforces it in the database, so a role can't do more than this from any screen.
The roles
| Role | For | In the app's words |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | The person who created the organization. Not a seat. | Everything, including billing, payouts and the team. |
| Admin | A co-organizer | Everything except billing, payouts and ownership. |
| Manager | Someone who runs events | Runs events: tickets, guests, orders, check-in and emails. |
| Door staff | Volunteers at the door | Checks guests in at the door. |
| Viewer | Board members, finance | Sees events, guests, sales and contacts, and changes nothing. |

Where each role works
- Home shows the organization's numbers, so Door staff start on Events instead.
- Inside an event, each role sees only the pages it can open. Door staff get Overview and Live check-in, and their Overview shows Tickets sold, Spots, Checked in and Page views, never money.
- Viewers can open Attendees, Orders, Tickets, Promo codes, Hosts and Emails, and change nothing there. Pages that edit the event, like Questions, Donations, Sponsors and Settings, need a role that edits events.
- In Settings, everyone sees Team. General, Contacts, Emails and Embed need the owner or an Admin. Payments, Plans and Integrations are the owner's.
Good to know
- Creating an event grants nothing by itself. A Manager who created events and is then removed loses them at once.
- Admins manage Managers, Door staff and Viewers. Only the owner adds, changes or removes an Admin.
- Every plan has the same 5 seats and the same roles.
- When
- A teammate creates an event
- Then
- Creating it gives them nothing beyond their role. If you remove them from the team, they lose access to it at once.
- When
- Someone has the Door staff role
- Then
- They see names, ticket types and check-in status, and check guests in. They never see emails, phones, orders or money.
- When
- You invite someone to your team
- Then
- They have 7 days to accept. Until they accept or the invite runs out, it takes one of your 5 seats.
