Connect Stripe
Connect your own Stripe account to sell paid tickets. Buyers' payments go straight to your Stripe account, and Stripe pays you out on its schedule.
Owner
Paid tickets need a payment processor, and Stripe is the default. You connect your own Stripe account; each buyer's payment is charged on it and paid out to your bank by Stripe. Ovante never holds your money.
Before you start
- Only the org's owner can connect a processor.
- Have your organization's details and bank account ready. Stripe asks for them, not Ovante.
Connect Stripe
- 1Open Settings → Payments.
- 2On the Stripe card, click Connect.
- 3Stripe opens. Sign in to Stripe or create an account, then fill in the details it asks for.
- 4When you finish, Stripe sends you back to Payments. The card shows Connected, and Active once Stripe can take charges and send payouts.
If the card shows Needs attention, Stripe still needs something from you. Click Finish setup to go back to Stripe.
What Stripe owns
Your Stripe account is yours, and some things are set and handled there, not in Ovante:
- Payouts. Money lands in your bank on Stripe's schedule.
- Disputes and chargebacks. You answer them in Stripe.
- What buyers see on their card statement. It's your Stripe account's statement name.
- Stripe's processing fee. Stripe sets it. See Fees.
Stripe dashboard on the card opens Stripe.
Good to know
- Buyers can pay by card, and by Apple Pay or Google Pay where their device offers it.
- On your own domain, Apple Pay and Google Pay need one more step. See Apple Pay doesn't show on my domain.
- Disconnect stops paid ticket sales until Stripe is connected again. Payouts already on their way aren't affected.
- Members' saved cards live on your Stripe account, so disconnecting strands them. The confirm says how many members have one. See Saved cards.
- Until your processor can take charges, an event that takes money shows Sales not open on its button and checkout stays closed. An event with only free tickets and no donations sells as usual.
- When
- An event takes money and your payment processor can't take a charge yet
- Then
- The button says Sales not open and checkout stays closed. An event with only free tickets and no donations isn't affected.
