Attendee statuses and check-in
Every ticket is Going, Pending approval or Not going. Whether it's checked in is a separate fact, shown as Yes or No.
Each ticket has an attendee status that says whether its holder is coming, and, apart from that, whether they've checked in. Ovante works the status out from the ticket's own record, so you never set it directly; you change it with Change status, an approval or a refund.
Attendee status
| Status | What it means | How a ticket gets there |
|---|---|---|
| Going | Holds a seat and can check in. | Bought at checkout, added by you, approved, or moved back with Change status. |
| Pending approval | Part of a request still waiting on you, or approved and waiting for the buyer's payment. Holds no seat and can't check in. | Checkout with a ticket that needs approval. Change status can also send a free ticket back to review. |
| Not going | Holds no seat and won't check in. | You set it with Change status or Revoke attendee, the order was refunded, or the request was declined, expired or withdrawn by the buyer. |
Checked in
| Value | What it means |
|---|---|
| Yes | Scanned at the door or checked in by hand. |
| No | Going, and not here yet. |
| A dash | Not going or Pending approval, and never checked in. |
How the two fit together
- Only a ticket that is Going can check in.
- Moving a ticket to Not going clears its check-in.
- On the Attendees page, the Checked in column shows only on the event's own days. The ticket drawer always shows it: Going with Check in, or Checked in with Undo check-in.
- An order paid another way at checkout holds its tickets as Going before you mark it paid, so they can check in.
- On a phone, the Attendees list shows "Checked in" in place of Going once someone arrives.
