Import your committee from a spreadsheet
Upload a CSV of your committee, match its columns, check the rows Ovante will skip, and add everyone at once, each with their own link.

A gala committee can run to dozens of names. Import them from a CSV in three steps, Upload, Match columns and Send links, and each person joins the committee with their own link. Nobody gets an email until you pick who does at the end.
Before you start
- Save your sheet as CSV. Excel and Google Sheets both can.
- One person per row, with the column names in the first row. Columns can have any names, in any order.
- Only a name is required. An email is what lets Ovante send someone their link.
Import the list
- 1In the event, open Outreach → Committee.
- 2Click the upload icon, Import committee.
- 3Drop your CSV on the page, or click Choose file. Not sure of the layout? Click Download a sample first.
- 4Under Match columns, check what each of your columns fills in: Full name, or First name and Last name, Email, Title, Company, City, Short bio, LinkedIn, Website or Instagram. Pick Don't import for a column you don't want.
- 5Look over the Preview. Switch to Skipped to see the rows that won't be added and why.
- 6Click Import with the number of people. The last step shows how many joined the committee.
Why a row is skipped
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| No name | Add a name to the row, then import it again. |
| Email doesn't look right | Fix the address, or leave it blank to add them without one. |
| Same email as an earlier row | Only the first row with that email is added. |
| Already on this event | They're on the committee or are an honoree already. |
| Couldn't be saved | Try that row again, or add the person by hand. |
What happens next
- Everyone imported is a committee member with their own link, listed on the Committee page and in the Committee list on your event page.
- The last step, Send each their link, lets you email them. See Send committee members their links.
- Click Don't send to finish without emailing anyone. You can send someone their link later from their row with Resend invitation.
Good to know
- The file stays in your browser. Only the rows you matched are sent to Ovante.
- Ovante refuses a file that's very large or has too many rows for one import, and says so. Split it and import each part.
- Closing the drawer before you import asks to discard it. Nothing from the file has been added yet.
- Everyone imported comes in as committee. To make someone an honoree, open them and change their Role.
- When
- You import your committee from a spreadsheet
- Then
- Each row becomes a committee member with their own link, and nobody is emailed. The last step, Send links, emails only the people you leave ticked.
- When
- An event has Gala
- Then
- Every host on it is a committee member, listed by name below the sponsors instead of as a portrait card. Honorees get the portrait cards.
