Who sits together

Ovante groups guests into parties: everyone on one order sits together, unless a bundle bought a whole table, in which case that table's seats are the party.

In the seating editor, guests come in parties: the people who bought together and expect to sit together. A party is one order. When a bundle buys a whole table, that table's seats are the party instead.

How a party is formed

The guest's ticketTheir party
On an orderEveryone else on the same order
Part of a bundle that reserves a table, or a sponsorship with a tableEveryone in that purchase, who sit at its table
NeitherThe guest alone

So when Dana Cohen buys four tickets, Dana and three guests are one party of four. When Avi Levin's company buys a sponsorship with a table of ten, those ten seats are one party, at their own table.

What a party looks like

  • In the Guests panel, a party is named for its buyer, with its guests under it. Unnamed seats read "Guest of" the buyer.
  • A sponsor's party shows their sponsorship level. A party that bought a table shows Bought a table.
  • Selecting a party shows its guests, their tables, and any seating request it made.

Why parties matter

  • Dragging a party moves everyone in it at once.
  • Auto-seat keeps a party at one table when it fits, and splits it across tables only when it's larger than any table.
  • When Read requests or a past-event group joins two parties with an accepted rule, auto-seat treats them as one bigger party.

Splitting a party

You can always seat one guest from a party somewhere else by hand: drag that guest, not the party. Auto-seat won't split a party that fits at one table, and it won't put two people together when an accepted rule keeps them apart.

Good to know

  • Only live tickets are seated. Requests waiting for approval and guests set to Not going aren't on the seating list.
  • A guest added to an existing order joins that order's party.
