Open Live check-in

Live check-in turns a phone into a ticket scanner and guest list for one event. Open it from the event, turn on the camera once, and the screen stays awake.

Live check-in is the door screen for one event: a camera scanner and the guest list, built to be held in one hand at a door. Each phone you open it on works as its own door.

Before you start

  • Check-in needs Pro, or an event with Gala.
  • Your role needs to be able to check guests in: the owner, Admins, Managers and Door staff can.

Open it

Any of these opens it:

  • In the event, open Guests → Attendees and click Check-in.
  • In the sidebar, click the event's name to open its menu, then Live check-in.
  • On the Events page or Home, open an event card's menu and click Live check-in.
  • On a phone, the event's page has a Check in button under its header. It turns green on the event's own days.

To set up a phone for door staff, open it once and bookmark the page.

The first time

  1. 1
Click Turn on camera. Your browser asks for the camera once.
  2. 2
If the phone wants a tap before showing the camera, the screen says "Tap to start the camera". Tap Start camera.
  3. 3
Point the camera at a ticket's QR code. See Scan tickets.

If the screen says "Camera access is off", allow the camera for this site in your browser's settings, then tap Try again. With no camera, tap Open guest list and check people in by hand.

What's on the screen

  • The scanner fills the screen, with the number checked in at the top and the last guest in at the bottom.
  • Scan and Guests at the bottom switch between the scanner and the guest list. On a tablet or laptop, the two sit side by side.
  • The menu at the top right holds Sound on scan, Attendees and Exit check-in, plus Find your table at an event with published seating.

Good to know

  • The screen stays awake while check-in is open, on browsers that allow it.
  • Each scan plays a tone. Turn it off with Sound on scan; the phone remembers your choice. Android phones also vibrate.
  • When the phone has a flashlight Ovante can use, a light button appears at the top.
  • On Free, the camera stays off and the scanner says "Check-in is on Pro" with Upgrade to Pro. You can still read the guest list.
When
The event's org is on Free and the event has no Gala
Then
The camera stays off and the guest list's check-in buttons are turned off. Undoing a check-in still works.
