What each scan result means
Green lets the guest in, amber needs a look, red keeps them out. Every result the scanner shows, what it means and what to do.
After each scan the whole screen takes a color, readable from a step back. The line at the top is the result, and the guest's name is the headline. Green moves on by itself; amber and red wait for you to tap Next guest.
| Color | Result | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green | Checked in | A valid ticket. The guest is checked in already. | Let them in. |
| Amber | Already checked in | This ticket was checked in before. The screen says when, like "Checked in at 7:42 PM, 4 min ago." | Check it's the same person and not a shared screenshot. |
| Amber | Pending approval | The ticket is part of a request you haven't approved. | Approve it on the Orders page if they should come in. |
| Amber | Approved, unpaid | You approved the request, but the buyer hasn't paid yet. | They pay from the link Ovante emailed, then scan again. |
| Red | Request declined, Request expired or Request withdrawn | "This request isn't a ticket." | Don't admit on this code. |
| Red | Refunded | The order was refunded. | Don't admit on this code. |
| Red | Not going | The ticket was set to Not going. | Check with whoever runs the guest list. |
| Red | Unknown ticket | "Not on the guest list": a ticket code, but not for this event. | Tap Search guests to look them up by name. |
| Red | Unknown code | "Not a ticket": the code isn't an Ovante ticket. | Ask for the QR code in their confirmation email, then Scan again. |
- When
- A valid ticket is scanned
- Then
- The guest is checked in at once, with no confirm tap. The screen turns green with their name and moves on by itself.
- When
- A scanned ticket is already checked in, a request, Not going, or not a ticket to this event
- Then
- Nobody is checked in. The screen turns amber for already checked in or pending approval, red for the rest, and waits for a tap.
Good to know
- On amber and red results with a guest, See guest opens their sheet.
- Each color has its own tone, and Android phones vibrate with a pattern for each.
- When the order holds more tickets not yet in, a green or amber result offers to check them in too.
