Create an event

Pick a page style, fill in the name, when and where, and click Create event. Every new event starts as a draft, on sale.

On this page

Creating an event takes two screens: first you pick a page style, then you fill in one form. The event saves as a draft, so nobody can open its page until you publish it.

Before you start

  • Door staff and Viewers can't create events. Owners, Admins and Managers can.
  • Have a banner image ready if you want one. You can add it later in Edit event.

Create the event

  1. 1
Open Events in the sidebar and click Create event.
  2. 2
Pick Standard, Showcase or Interactive. You can change the style later in Edit event.
  3. 3
Type the event's name where it says Event name.
  4. 4
Click the description box to write what guests should know before they come.
  5. 5
Under When, set Starts, Ends and Time zone. The time zone starts as your computer's.
  6. 6
Under Where, pick In person and search for the place, or pick Online and paste the Meeting link.
  7. 7
On the left, add a banner and choose the look.
  8. 8
Click Create event. Ovante opens the event's page in the app, where you add tickets and publish.

Start from a day on the calendar

On the Events page, switch to Calendar view and hover a day from today on. Click the plus button, Create event on this day, and the form opens on that day at 7:00 PM. Past days don't offer it.

What a new event starts with

  • A draft. Only your team can see it until you publish it from the status button at the top of the event.
  • On sale. There's no Sales picker when you create an event. Each ticket sells within its own sales window once the event is live.
  • Visible on calendar and Anyone can register. Change both under Visibility before you create it, or in Edit event later.
  • No tickets. Add them under Sales → Tickets.

On an Interactive page, the form also asks for Seats. The page counts down the seats left, so you can't create the event without a number.

Good to know

  • Ovante won't save an event that ends before it starts, or an in-person address you typed but didn't pick from the suggestions.
  • On Free, up to 3 events can be live at a time. Drafts don't count, so you can create as many as you like.
When
An event is a draft
Then
Visitors can't open its page or register, and views of it don't count. Your team can preview it on ovante.app while signed in.
When
An org on Free already has 3 live events
Then
Publishing another is refused until one ends or you unpublish one. Drafts, events that have ended and events with Gala don't count.
