Honorees and the committee
On a Gala event, the people who sell for you are the committee and the people you celebrate are honorees. Both keep a link that credits them for what it sells.
A Gala event has no plain hosts. The people who sell for you are your committee, and the people the evening celebrates are your honorees. Each one keeps their own link, and every ticket bought through it counts toward them, exactly as it does for a host.
Where they live
In the event, open Outreach → Committee. On a Gala event the Hosts page is called Committee, and its button is Add committee member. Honorees are added from the same button by picking the Honoree role.
The two roles
| Honoree | Committee | |
|---|---|---|
| On your event page | A portrait card in Honoring, near the top | Their name in the Committee list, below the sponsors |
| Their link | Yes | Yes |
| Profile | Full: job title, company, location, industry, school, bio, links, and a portrait | Short: title, company, location, bio and links, and no portrait |
| In their honor | Journal ads can name them under In honor of | No |
When Gala is turned on
- Every host already on the event becomes a committee member, keeping their link, their sales and their visits.
- Anyone you add later is a committee member unless you pick Honoree.
- There's no plain host role on a Gala event.
How they're credited
- Tickets bought through anyone's link count toward them on the Committee page.
- Ovante emails a committee member or honoree with an email address their link, then a note each time someone registers through it.
- The Honorees and committee card ranks them by what they've brought in. See The honorees' leaderboard.
A worked example
Gala Under the Stars honors Rachel Gold. Avi Levin and Dana Cohen co-chair the committee. Rachel's portrait leads the page under Honoring, and guests buying a journal ad can pick Rachel under In honor of. Avi's and Dana's names sit in the Committee list, and the tables they sell through their links count toward each of them.
- When
- An event has Gala
- Then
- Every host on it is a committee member, listed by name below the sponsors instead of as a portrait card. Honorees get the portrait cards.
- When
- A guest arrives through a host's link
- Then
- Their order is credited to that host. On an event anyone can register for, the device remembers the latest host for 7 days, so a later visit without the link still credits them.
- When
- Gala is unlocked on an event
- Then
- The event switches to the Showcase style and keeps it, even after Gala closes. Its hosts become the committee, and the Gala pages unlock.
