Add attendees by hand
Add comps, people who paid you directly, or a guest list yourself. A first name and a ticket type are all a ticket needs.

Adding attendees by hand creates an order for people who didn't go through checkout: comps, sponsors' guests, someone who paid you at the office. Each person gets their own ticket and QR code, and nothing is charged through Ovante.
Before you start
- The event needs at least one ticket type. Without one, the sheet says to create one first.
- Recording money you collected needs Pro, or an event with Gala. On Free you can still add attendees at no charge.
Add attendees
- 1In the event, open Guests → Attendees and click Add attendee.
- 2Under Attendee, type a First name and pick a Ticket type. That's all the first attendee needs. The first attendee is the order's buyer.
- 3To add more people to the same order, click Add another attendee, or Add a bundle to add a bundle's seats together. A slot you leave blank becomes an unnamed ticket on the buyer's order.
- 4To record money you collected, turn on Record a payment under Payment. See Record a payment made offline.
- 5To credit a host, pick them in Credited to host under Attribution. Turn on Notify the host to email them about it.
- 6Under Notifications, leave Send confirmation email on to email the order. The line under it names the email and the address it goes to.
- 7Click the button at the bottom of the sheet. The order appears on the Orders page with "Added by you" after the buyer's name.
Which email goes out
| You add | Goes to | |
|---|---|---|
| One attendee, no payment | "Added by you", with a link to their ticket | That attendee's email, or the buyer's |
| Several attendees, no payment | "Order confirmation", listing every ticket without prices | The buyer |
| Any order with a recorded payment | "Order confirmation", with every ticket and what was paid | The buyer |
The first attendee needs an email for anything to send. Customize under the switch opens that email in the event's email editor.
What happens next
- When
- You add an order by hand
- Then
- The first attendee needs a first name and every attendee a ticket type; an email is optional. The event's checkout rules for names, emails and required questions bind buyers, not you.
- When
- You add attendees by hand
- Then
- They're added even while sales are paused, closed or sold out. The event's capacity and Free's attendee cap still hold, and a ticket type's quantity can be passed after Ovante asks you first.
- When
- A guest ticket has no name and no email
- Then
- It stays on the buyer's order as an unnamed ticket, carrying the buyer's name, email and phone so the confirmation and the door have something. It makes no contact and sends nothing to integrations until you name it.
- When
- A ticket with a holder is booked
- Then
- The holder joins your contacts at once, matched by email, and the buyer joins from the order. A request joins only when you approve it, and an unnamed ticket not at all.
Good to know
- The event's rules for required names, emails and phones bind checkout, not you. Questions show in the sheet, and you can leave them blank.
- As you type an email, matching contacts appear. Pick one to fill the blanks, and the note under the field says which contact the ticket joins.
- Going past a ticket type's quantity is allowed, but Ovante asks first in Add past the ticket limit. Buyers still see that ticket as sold out. The event's own capacity still applies.
- The order drawer's Source says who added the order.
