Gala and your plan

While Gala is open, that one event runs every Pro feature whatever your plan, pays no Ovante fee, has no attendee cap and doesn't count toward Free's live-event limit.

Gala
On this page

Gala works on any plan. While it's open, the event it's on runs as if your org were on Pro, and Ovante takes no fee on anything that event sells. Your org's other events keep your plan, its fee and its limits.

Pro featuresOffOn

The Pro features it turns on: check-in, adding hosts, offline payments, checkout questions, tickets that need approval, customized event emails, invite-only registration, ways to pay offline, and letting buyers cover the card fee.

On Pro, your events already have all of this. Gala adds its own pages and drops Ovante's fee, which is already none on Pro.

Card processing still applies

"No Ovante fee" is Ovante's own fee. Stripe's processing fee on card payments is charged as on any event.

A worked example

Chabad of Starbase is on Free and has two live events. It adds Gala to Gala Under the Stars.

  • The gala sells 220 tickets with no cap, and Ovante takes nothing from them.
  • The team checks guests in at the door and records checks with Mark as paid, both Pro features.
  • The gala doesn't count as a live event, so the org can still publish one more event on Free.
  • The Spring Community Dinner, its other event, stops selling at 50 attendees and pays the 5% fee, as before.

When Gala closes

The event goes back to your org's plan. See When Gala closes.

Good to know

  • A teammate's role still decides what they can do. Gala changes what the event allows, not who can do it.
  • A copy of a Gala event has no Gala, so it follows your plan.

When
An event on Free has Gala open
Then
It publishes whatever your plan and doesn't count toward Free's 3 live events.
When
Someone pays by card on Free
Then
Ovante takes 5% of the payment, tickets, gifts and ads alike, and of card membership dues. On Pro, and on any event with Gala, it takes nothing.
When
An event on Free reaches 50 attendees
Then
Checkout stops selling and the button says Sold out; buyers read that the event is at capacity. Events on Pro and events with Gala have no such cap.
