Publish or unpublish an event
Use the status button beside Edit event. Published means anyone with the link can open the page; Draft means only your team can see it.
On this page
An event is Published or a Draft. Published, anyone with the link can open its page and buy tickets. Draft, only your team can see it. Every new event starts as a draft.
Publish an event
- 1Open the event. The status button beside Edit event says Draft.
- 2Click it and pick Published.
- 3Click Publish in the confirm.
"Event published" appears with View page, and the button now says Published. You can also publish from Publish your event on the event's Overview.
The first time: your calendar page
If your org hasn't set up its calendar page yet, Ovante asks first. Set up your calendar page opens with the names Ovante made up at sign-up. Check the Organization name and Public URL, add a logo or banner if you like, and click Save and publish. That saves the calendar page and publishes the event in one step. Every event page links back to it.
Unpublish an event
- 1Click the Published button and pick Draft.
- 2Click Unpublish in the confirm.
The event's page and checkout stop working. People who registered keep their tickets, and their orders stay in your lists.
Preview a draft
Click the arrow button beside the status button, Preview the event page on a draft or Open the event page once it's live. It opens in a new tab. A draft's preview works only for your team. A live page opens on your own domain if you have one.
On Free
Up to 3 events can be live at a time. The confirm says so, and hovering the status button shows how many of them are in use. One more can't be published until you unpublish one or upgrade to Pro. Drafts and events that have ended don't count, and an event with Gala doesn't count either.
What happens next
- When
- An event is a draft
- Then
- Visitors can't open its page or register, and views of it don't count. Your team can preview it on ovante.app while signed in.
- When
- An org on Free already has 3 live events
- Then
- Publishing another is refused until one ends or you unpublish one. Drafts, events that have ended and events with Gala don't count.
- When
- An event on Free has Gala open
- Then
- It publishes whatever your plan and doesn't count toward Free's 3 live events.
- When
- Pro ends
- Then
- Free's rules apply from then on. Events already live stay live, but an event past 50 attendees stops selling and the Pro features turn off, except on events with Gala.
Good to know
- Saving Edit event never changes the status.
- A published event set to Hidden from calendar works by link and stays off your calendar page. See Who can see and register.
- Without permission to edit the event, the status shows as plain text.
