Orders, tickets and attendees
An order is what a buyer did. A ticket is a seat for one person. Attendees are the people holding tickets.

An order is what a buyer did. A ticket is a seat for one person. When Dana buys three tickets, one for Dana and two for friends, Ovante records one order with three tickets, and Dana's card is charged once.
Where you see each
- Orders (in the event, Guests → Orders) has one row per order. Approvals, refunds and payments happen here.
- Attendees (Guests → Attendees) has one row per ticket holder. It's your door list.
- Transactions in the sidebar lists every order across your events.
Who a ticket belongs to
The first ticket on an order is the buyer's. Each guest ticket belongs to the guest named at checkout. A ticket nobody named stays on the buyer's order as an unnamed ticket. It carries the buyer's email so the confirmation has somewhere to go, and it doesn't add anyone to your contacts. Name it in the ticket drawer and it becomes that person's.
Two statuses, two questions
| Order status | Attendee status | |
|---|---|---|
| Answers | Was it approved, and is it paid? | Is this person coming? |
| Values | Pending approval, Awaiting payment, Paid, Partially refunded, Refunded, Free, Declined | Going, Pending approval, Not going |
| Where | Orders, Transactions | Attendees, the ticket drawer |
Check-in is separate from both. A guest who is Going is checked in or not.
Why the numbers differ
- Orders counts purchases and Attendees counts people. 12 orders can hold 30 tickets.
- A request holds no seat. It isn't in Tickets sold until you approve it.
- A table bundle counts every seat it holds.
Money and attendance go to different people
Spending counts toward the buyer. Attendance counts toward each holder. Dana's contact shows what Dana spent; each friend's contact shows the event they came to.
The rules behind this page
- When
- A buyer checks out
- Then
- Ovante records one order and a ticket for each seat, a bundle's seats included. The first ticket is the buyer's own.
- When
- A guest ticket has no name and no email
- Then
- It stays on the buyer's order as an unnamed ticket, carrying the buyer's name, email and phone so the confirmation and the door have something. It makes no contact and sends nothing to integrations until you name it.
- When
- An order is a request
- Then
- It holds no seat, and no count or total includes it until you approve it.
