Mark a pay-later order as paid
When a buyer picks an offline way to pay at checkout, the order holds its tickets and owes its total until you mark the money received.

If your event offers ways to pay outside the card form, like a check or Zelle, a buyer can pick one at checkout. Their order holds its tickets and waits as Awaiting payment until the money arrives and you mark it paid.
What the buyer sees
- At checkout, the method you set up and its instructions, like where to send the money.
- In their confirmation email and on their ticket page, a How to pay card with the method, the instructions and the amount due.
- Their tickets, which hold their seats right away.
Setting up the methods is in Let guests pay offline.
Find the orders waiting
- In the event, open Guests → Orders and pick Needs review in the status menu. Orders awaiting payment are listed there with requests.
- On the Transactions page, filter Status to Awaiting payment.
Mark an order paid
- 1Click the order. The status card says Awaiting payment and what's due, like "$180.00 due by Zelle."
- 2Click Mark as paid.
- 3Paid by starts on the method the buyer picked. Change it if they paid another way.
- 4Set Date received, and add a Check number or Reference if you have one.
- 5Click Mark as paid. You see "Order marked as paid", and the order reads Paid.
You can't change the amount here: it's what the order owes, fixed at checkout.
What happens next
- Ovante records the payment as offline, with no fees.
- Any gift on the order is booked as a donation now, not before.
- The How to pay card leaves the buyer's ticket page.
- When
- A buyer picks a way to pay offline at checkout
- Then
- Their tickets are booked and hold seats, with payment pending. Ovante records no payment and no gift until you click Mark as paid.
- When
- You record a payment you collected yourself
- Then
- It carries no processor fee and no Ovante fee, on any plan.
Good to know
- The tickets scan in at the door before you mark the order paid. Check what's still awaiting payment before the event if that matters to you.
- You can't add a guest to an order still awaiting payment, and you can't refund it until it's paid.
- A buyer can't pay offline for journal ads, sponsorship levels, a ticket that needs approval, or a $0 order.
- Mark as paid writes an offline payment, so it needs Pro, or an event with Gala.
