Duplicate an event

Duplicate makes a draft copy of an event on a new date, with its tickets, bundles, questions, promo codes, edited emails and page. Guests, hosts and email history stay behind.

Duplicating is the fastest way to run the same event again. Ovante copies the event in one step onto the date you pick, as a draft, so you can check it before anyone sees it.

Duplicate an event

  1. 1
Open Events and click the menu on the event's card, then Duplicate. Or, in the event, open Settings and click Duplicate under Event actions.
  2. 2
Under Starts, check the date and time. Ovante suggests the next date on the same weekday at the same time, in the event's time zone.
  3. 3
    Click Duplicate.

"Event duplicated" appears and the copy opens. It's a draft: publish it from the status button when it's ready.

What's copied

  • The event's page: name, description, look, place, time zone and settings.
  • Ticket types, bundles and what's in them, with every count back at zero. Each ticket's sales window moves by as much as the event does.
  • Checkout questions and polls.
  • Promo codes.
  • Emails you customized.
  • Member pricing and members-only rules.

Hosts, guests, orders, staff, sent emails and email history are never copied, and neither are scheduled price increases.

What's different about the copy

  • It's always a draft, and sales are never paused.
  • It has no Gala, even if the original did.
  • If the original's checkout button showed a picked ticket's price, the copy shows the cheapest instead.

On Free

Custom questions and customized emails need Pro. On Free, Ovante copies everything else and the confirmation says what was left out. An invite-only event, or one with a ticket that needs approval, can't be duplicated on Free until you change that on the original.

Good to know

  • Duplicate needs permission to create events in the event's org: the owner, Admins and Managers.
  • Duplicate shows on an event's card only when you're working in that event's org.
When
You duplicate an event
Then
The copy starts as a draft with sales open, and the tickets, bundles, questions, promo codes, edited emails, agenda and member rules come with it. The owner, Admins and Managers can duplicate; deleting an event takes the owner or an Admin.
When
You duplicate a Gala event
Then
The copy has no Gala and starts as a draft, with its seating unpublished.
